Food 4 u

Among hundreds of video competing, 33 were chosen. The selected videos come from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

The campaign has involved more than 30,000 schools, a 20%  increase compared to last year, and about 4,000 students and teachers participated in the competition for the creation of spots focused on the importance of a healthy and correct diet. A competition that continues to grow and that will, eventually, involve all the 27 European Union countries.

To the winners I give in advance my welcome in Italy. I'm obviously happy that it is Veneto, the region where I was born and of which I was President for many years, to host them. The analysis of the contents of the spots competing, presented by the students  of sixteen European countries, shows that 35% of them sees "fast food" as  enemy number one, synonymous of a bad diet; 32% proposes as a solution a balanced diet; 17% identifies the increased consumption of fruit and vegetable as correct nutritional habit and 11% values sport as the main solution to obesity.

The appointment with the young European filmmakers is for September in Jesolo, 18-21, with the first three nights of the FOOD 4U Video Festival 2010.

Finally, Thursday, 23rd September in Rome at the Auditorium della Conciliazione, there will be the award ceremony of the FOOD 4U Awards 2010 - Trophy President of the Italian Republic.
