So many young film makers at work… so many video spots to be produced… so many applications from schools throughout the whole of Europe! For those who choose to take part in the competition, a little clarification is always useful. So, here is an FAQ page, which FOOD 4U is, from today onwards, devoting to students and teachers in order to answer the most frequently asked questions. For further information, advice and updates the e-mail video@food-4u.it is always available.

From where can the pre-registration form be downloaded?
The form may be accessed by going to the competition web page and scrolling down to the paragraph “Pre-registration” and clicking on the appropriate writing. There will open up a window which will allow you to input the information for your pre-registration
What are the terms and conditions to send the pre-registration?
After having input the information in the pre-registration form boxes, click on the “Submit” button. The file will be automatically submitted to the Organisers.
Is there a deadline for sending the pre-registration?
No precise deadline has been fixed. Of course, it is advisable to send the pre-registration well ahead of the entry deadline for the competition.
Is it possible to increase the student element in the working group by 1 or 2 individuals?
The working group should be composed of a maximum of 10 students. This number may not be increased, unless specially authorised by the Organisers.
Can one student who has exceeded the age shown in the competition notice take part? Can one student who has a lower age than that shown in the competition notice take part?
Yes, he/she can take part, provided that, in the current year, he/she is attending a secondary school.
Is it mandatory to send the version of the video spot by internet?
Yes, it IS mandatory. Indeed, FOOD 4U has as one its aims the maximisation of the circulation of the contributions sent by youngsters and therefore is taking advantage of the web to publish the best video spots of the competition. The required formats for the internet version of the video spots are, optionally: Macromedia Flash Player, Real Player or Windows Media Player.
Is is mandatory to make a backstage video?
Yes, it is mandatory, because it embodies an important tool to document the work undertaken. Indeed, the backstage allows the Organisers to better understand the criteria followed in the conception and implementation of the video spot, and also to assess the real involvement by the youngsters.

Do you abide by the competition notice deadline?
Yes, unless there is an extension to the deadline. In the case of the competition deadline being extended, the Organisers will notify this immediately on the web. The new deadline will be thus be published on the campaign website, with an appropriate banner on the home page.
When selected, how will the class be notified of the award stay?
The finalist school groups will receive a letter announcing their award from the Ministry sponsoring the initiative. At the same time, the competition Organisers will telephone the school head and the co-ordinating teachers, in order to arrange the involvement of the group in the award stay. All the info with respect to the trip and the stay in Italy will be given and there will be decided, with the full agreement of the teachers, the terms and conditions for the handling of necessary steps to be taken. A direct contact with the Organisers will also be provided to the co-ordinating teachers, in case of any problems or for information about points related to the stay.
In the case of a single student dropping out, is another student allowed to replace him/her to take part instead?
No substitutes are allowed unless they are expressly authorised by the Organisers.
