Also this year FOOD4U sees an increased collaboration with EUFIC (European Food Information Council, www.eufic.org). EUFIC aims to enhance public understanding of nutrition, health and food safety issues, thus contributing to raising consumer awareness of their role in safe food handling and choosing a well-balanced, healthful diet.
To assist the FOOD4U team in determining the impact the initiative has on understanding of nutrition among adolescents, EUFIC has developed a survey to assess the students' nutrition knowledge in all the European countries involved in the FOOD4U competition as well as a short survey for the teachers coordinating the students to have a better idea of nutrition education in the different countries. Additionally, a brief entitled "Eating well and being active is important for our health" and describing the cornerstones of a healthy, balanced lifestyle is available in all languages of the European Union countries.
All European secondary schools are invited to take part in this survey, by asking their students and teachers to fill out, in English, these questionnaires (one for each student). All questionnaires, once completed, should be returned to our Secretariat either by e-mail to food4u.euficsurvey@gmail.com or by fax to +39 06 622 09 514.
